SCHOLARSHIP 2022
Please find enclosed application forms (HSI), Certificate of Schooling Forms (HS2), Notes for Guidance (HS3), Second Schedule of Regulation 24 (5) (HS4) and the Regulations 24 (3) (a) and (b).
1. Candidates wishing to compete for the above Scholarships on the Arts, Science, Economics and
Technical sides should fill in the application form HSI and submit it to the Head of School not later than 22 January 2022.
2. Candidates should ensure that they enter for the subjects of the Cambridge Higher School Certificate
Examinations as set out in the Second Schedule of Regulation 24 (5).
3. In the Second Schedule of Regulation 24 (5), the subjects marked with an asterisk (*) have changes
in their syllabus code as detailed out below:

Hinduism 9014 has been replaced by Syllabus 'Hinduism 9487' to be examined for the first time in April/May/June 2022. Islamic Studies 9013 has been replaced by Syllabus 'Islamic Studies 9488' to be examined for the first time in April/May/June 2022. History 9389 has been replaced by Syllabus 'History 9489' to be examined for the first time in April/May/June 2022. Computer Science 9608 has been replaced by Syllabus 'Computer Science 9618' to be examined for the first time in April/May/June 2022.
4. Candidates can ONLY enter for five subjects as follows: English General Paper, three A level subjects
and one AS level subject. Any other combination of subjects will not be accepted.
5. Each candidate should submit the application form (HSI) duly filled in, his Birth Certificate and either
his Cambridge School Certificate or his Cambridge General Certificate of Education. Candidates born outside Mauritius should also submit the Birth Certificate of their father/mother. Originals and photocopies of all documents should be submitted.
6. Heads of schools are advised to carefully check the application forms of candidates before
submitting same to the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate. Heads of Schools are further advised to refer to Regulations 24 (3) (a) and (b) and to the Second Schedule of Regulation 24 (5) before certifying the application forms of candidates.

Please ensure that:
(a) The names of the candidates as printed on their Birth Certificates correspond exactly to those on
their Cambridge School Certificate or Cambridge General Certificate of Education. In case of discrepancy, an affidavit should be submitted to the effect that the name on the Birth Certificate and that on the Cambridge School Certificate or Cambridge General Certificate of Education refers to one and same person.
(b) The candidates satisfy the requirements laid down under Regulation 24 (3) (a) and (b).
(c) The period of attendance in a school other than the school which the candidate is presently
attending during the three-year qualifying period mentioned under Regulation 24 (3) is covered by the Certificate of Schooling from the Head of School concerned; the exact dates of admission and transfer should be specified.
(d) For candidates who were NOT admitted in Grade 7 at the school they are presently attending, Part
3 of the Certificate of Schooling (HS2) should be completed.
7. Failure by candidates to comply with the instructions at paragraphs 6 (a) to 6 (d) above may
lead to the disqualification of the candidate from competing for the Scholarship.
8. Heads of Schools are requested to refer to Regulation 24 (3) (a) and (b). Any candidate who leaves
school before the end of the school year may not be eligible to compete for the above Scholarships. Such cases should be notified to the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate immediately.
9. Heads of Schools are requested to submit a list of candidates duly signed on form HS5 in respect of
each of the sides: Arts, Science, Economics and Technical. Boys and Girls should be listed separately in alphabetical order.
10. The application forms along with all the documents mentioned above should be forwarded to the
Cambridge Examinations Section, Mauritius Examinations Syndicate, Reduit not later than 01 February 2022.
11. The provisional list of competing candidates will be published in the Gazette on or before 15 March
2022.
