Photo Competition - “Narrating the SDGs through the Eyes of the Youth"
Dear all,
The United Nations in partnership with Business Mauritius is organizing a photo competition, “Narrating the SDGs through the Eyes of the Youth”. This campaign aims to introduce or reinforce the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the youth in Mauritius and to encourage critical thinking on what the SDGs represent to them and their future.
2. How to Participate
a) Take a picture relating to any of the sustainable goals and tell us what it means to you in the Mauritian context.
b) Indicate which SDG(s) are linked to your photo(s)
c)Write a brief creative story (less than 150 words) for each photo to explain how your shot is linked to the chosen SDG(s) and why it matters to you and to your country.

4. General Rules
a) Submission
deadline is 27.03.2022. Results of the competition will be announced
shortly after.
The
contest is open to two (2) age groups:
- Minors (Ages 12 – 17)
- Youth
(Ages 18 – 25)
b) IMPORTANT:
Minors (Aged 12 – 17) eager to participate in the competition will need their parents or guardians to submit on their behalf.
UN
staff members (including interns and consultants) and professional photographers are not eligible to participate.
Jury
Panel members are not eligible to participate.
All entries not respecting the theme, or the technical/authorship requirements set out below will not be considered.
5. Jury
The
Jury Panel will be composed as follows:
- A UN Leader, Chairman/chairwomen, Ms Celine Lemmel (IOM Chief of Mission)
- A senior representative of the UN Resident Coordinator Office, Mr Pierre Fallavier
- The CEO, Business Mauritius, Kevin Ramkaloan
- Ms Anita Khelawon, State Bank of Mauritius (SBM)
- Mr Christian Nanon, Rogers Group
- Photographer - Maitre Yahia Nazroo
- Photographer - Mr Javed Jeetoo
6. Submissions
Participants must select one or more of the 17 SDG’s.
Participants may submit a maximum of two photos per selected SDG.
Creativity and/or original thinking will improve your chances to win.
Participants must submit original copies of their images. After submitting entries, the photos, with permission from participants, may be used by the United Nations in the future for non-commercial purposes.
Participants must include their full name, age and contact information in submissions.

7. The criteria to participate in the competition is attached for ease of reference.
8. You may collect the poster regarding the competition with the Liaison Officer, Mrs Agathe, on Level 8.
